In Paradise Township York County Mrs. Edward Hoffheins 44 died Sunday after a week of illness from a blood infection arising from a leg pimple. She left a husband and 11 children, plus relatives in Abbottstown Paradise and nearby towns. Funeral April 14 at 9 am from the home with interment at Hotzswam Church. Joseph R. Scott 71 died Tuesday evening of pneumonia after a week’s illness. A Civil War veteran and farmer, he leaves a second wife and children in Gettysburg Emmitsburg and Minnesota. Funeral Friday at 10 am, Evergreen cemetery services.

Funeral for Benjamin F. Reed Held in Fairfield
Benjamin F Reed died Friday morning at home in Fairfield after a lingering illness aged 78 years 2 months 13 days. He is survived by his daughter Maud three sisters and two brothers. Funeral was held at the Lutheran church in Fairfield Sunday afternoon at 1 30 with interment in Union Cemetery Fairfield.

Miss Mary Slaybaugh of Arendtsville died at the County Home on Tuesday after a four day stay. She was about 66 years old and her remains were taken to Bendersville for burial.

Deaths of Rev John H Peters and John Kerrigan
Rev John H Peters died at his home in Bendersville after a brief illness from Brights Disease. Born August 27, 1851 in Adams County he became a teacher then a Presbyterian minister serving in Texas and Nebraska before retiring to Bendersville. He was a fruit grower and on the Adams County Fruit Growers Association executive committee, a Bendersville School Board member, and secretary of the Bendersville Town Council. Survived by wife Metcalf and three children Temple Peters Mary Peters and John Peters plus three brothers and one sister. Funeral Friday at 6:30 at the house, interment York Springs. John Kerrigan of near Cedar Ridge died at home Tuesday morning from Brights Disease at age 80 years six months nine days. Survived by wife two sons Andrew Kerrigan of Midway and Joseph Kerrigan at home, three daughters Joseph Kinnk Elizabeth and Annie Kerrigan at home. Funeral Thursday at nine from his late home, interment St Joseph's Church Bonneauville.

Man from Harney Drowns Self After Escape from Asylum
Charles E. Fink, 32, of Harney, escaped from Harrisburg Insane Asylum with others during exercise. He walked along Pennsylvania tracks near Steelton and leaped in front of a fast train, dying instantly. Born in Taneytown, a cigarmaker who worked in Philadelphia, Lancaster, York, and elsewhere, he had a history of mental illness and recent decline. His funeral was at St. James Lutheran in Gettysburg with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. His mother, long-time Harney resident, survives.

Benjamin Jacobs died Wednesday morning at 10 45 at his home in Bendersville after a six weeks illness from heart trouble aged 81 years months and 24 days. He lived in Bendersville all his life, was a farmer and miller, Civil War veteran, and member of P F Eldon Post. Surviving are his wife and two daughters Mrs E H Wolf of Harrisburg and Carrie Jacobs at home. Funeral Saturday from his late home conducted by Rev S A Diehl with interment in Bendersville Cemetery.

Extension Granted for Rail Line Steam Power in Frederick
At a special meeting of the Ge and Aldermen of Frederick, Tuesday night, by a vote of three to two the Washington, Frederick and Gettysburg Railroad was granted another extension of time to use steam as a motor power on Fourth Street until April 1 910.

An unknown tramp was found dead Monday afternoon in the quarry near Littlestown McSherry’s woods. Death appears caused by alcoholism. The body was taken to the county home for burial.

Woman Wrenched Leg in Abbottstown Drive
Misa Grace Baker of West York visiting friends near Abbottstown on April 16 was thrown from a buggy when the horse backed up after Miss Nettie Stine alighted. Her left leg was badly wrenched and she could not walk, then returned to the Stine home and later taken to West York by Charles Wehler.
