Borough authorities announced new enforcement tactics for the ongoing dog quarantine.owners permitting dogs to run at large without muzzles during the quarantine may be fined 10 to 1000 dollars upon conviction. Police will identify offenders and prosecute. If owners cannot be found, dogs will be shot. Over thirty dogs have been killed since February, including many household pets, with carcasses sent to the Spangler and Oyler fertilizer plant for disposal.

Pius J. Althoff died after a week long illness at his York street home from influenza and complications. The Gettysburg resident, 61, worked with brother Frank in carpentry and was a Catholic Church member.
