Deaths of Miss Mary Davis and others in Adams County
Mary Davis long active in Gettysburg charity died March 23 at her sister Emma Hawn's home in Merchantville New Jersey. She moved with parents George and Mary Davis to Merchantville last October and is mourned by brothers and other relatives. Funeral was in Wilmington Delaware with burial at Silver Brook Cemetery. Esther Neely died March 30 at her parents home between New Oxford and New Chester after peritonitis. A widow, Mrs Lillie Wolf, age about 70, died April 2 at her Hamilton township home after extended tuberculosis. Funeral April 3 at 9 am in New Oxford Cemetery with Rev W A Korn officiating. Oliver Sanders and Miss Cora Baker were married Tuesday at the Fairfield Lutheran parsonage by Rev C G Ritter.

Mrs. Samuel Logue died Monday near Middleburg at 66 after several weeks of pneumonia. A Gettysburg native and Reformed church member, she is survived by her husband with funeral Thursday at the house and interment in Middleburg Reformed graveyard. Harry Essick, known as Spotty, died at 37 at his Railroad Street home from consumption. A plumber with C H Wilson, he left a wife a daughter and a son. Funeral Monday at 9:30 from the Catholic church with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Obituary of John McDermad Near Aspers
John McDermad died at his home near Aspers from complications of diseases at age 48. Born near Gettysburg he graduated from Lebanon Valley College and taught Latin and Greek for four years. A former United Brethren minister and three year secretary of the Menallen School Board he is survived by his wife and daughter Daisy. Funeral services were held at Kime's church with Rev. Edward Waters officiating. interment followed in Bendersville Cemetery.

Mrs. E. C. Hood died Friday in Baltimore at age 42 from consumption. She is survived by her husband and two sons. The body was brought to Gettysburg today. Services were held at the Catholic church with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Highland man feeds opossums after odd owl catch
W Hammers of Highland township found two pet opossums and shot at a bird he mistook for a lamb. The bird, a large horned owl, fell from a hollow tree after a shot. George L. Plank helped remove the owl, a rabbit, and a chicken, feeding the opossums. Neighbors report missing ducks and chickens from roosts. Plank plans to raise two owlet chicks if they take a bottle.

Two Men Seriously Hurt In Runaway Cart
Two men, Moses Nicholas and Frank Redding, are in serious condition after a wagon load of furniture bounced along East Cemetery Hill. Frightened mules pulled the wagon, the vehicle hit a locust tree, and both men were thrown and dragged. Nicholas, about 35, suffered suspected internal injuries. Redding, about 70, sustained a broken ankle. They were helped by James Leister and attended by Dr. Henry Stewart.

Opening of Walter Theatre Delights Gettysburg Crowd
More than eleven hundred Gettysburg residents attended the opening of the Walter Theatre on York Street. A parade by the proprietor and staff drew attention, The Citizens Band performed, and about 850 seats were ready with many standing. The program featured an illustrated song, two films, and a comedian. The audience reacted with cheers and hearty approval as preparations continue for opera chairs and scenery.
