Tragic Runaway Horse Death Near Granite Station
George Griffin Jr of Straban township was dragged for hundreds of yards by a runaway horse at his home near Granite Station on Saturday evening and died Monday at 2 AM from a severe brain concussion. Survived by parents and siblings, his body was taken to Cockeysville for burial.

Buildings Sold for Farm Reuse as Bungalows on Centre Square
The Hanover Record Herald reports two 60 year old frame two story buildings on Centre Square near the People's Bank sold Monday to George D. Gitt for 59. He will raze them and move the timber to his farm in Adams county to erect summer cottages for camping parties. The site will host a new four story brick business block for the bank this summer.

Reservoir project advances at Stoner farm site
The Hanover and McSherrystown Water Company resumes work on the new reservoir on the Stoner farm near Sell's Station with ten men. The crew will double next week and push toward completion, but water will not be pumped from the reservoir for about three months. Existing reservoirs on Pigeon Hills and Parr's Hill are currently full of water.

Big Mountain Fire Destroys Acres Near Caledonia Park
Sunday night a large blaze swept the mountain back of Caledonia Park on Yellow Ridge along Hoosac Run. The fire burned over 450 acres and destroyed $800 worth of second growth timber including binkery and chestnut. The state will spend about $1200 to replace and replant. Superintendent R G Conklin led his forces in combating the fire likely started by a careless smoker.

Robbed man who befriended him
J Edward Oyler of Chambersburg street was robbed of his pocket book and 24 by a tramp after breakfast at the Oyler home. The thief wore a white slouch hat and had a short black mustache and was pursued along Buford avenue, but no arrest was made.

Cable tramway planned from McConnellsburg to Ft. Louden

Injuries Fatal to Mr McClune in Hanover Yard Accident
Thomas McGinne of Littlestown, an extra freight conductor and flagman on the Pennsylvania between Frederick and Cal ueh nia, died at York hospital after being run over by a moving freight car in Hanover yards. He was climbing a ladder when struck. his leg was amputated and he died several hours later. He leaves a wife and two children.

Skeletons of Louisiana Tigers Unearthed on East Cemetery Hill
While cleaning Gettysburg Water Company premises on East Cemetery Hill, Robert Caldwell uncovered bones likely from a Louisiana Tigers soldier killed on July 2 1863. The remains included fragments with a purse containing an Indian arrowhead and a table knife, but no coins. The find follows earlier discoveries by Prof. Louis Sowers and suggests missed Confederate burials later relocated south. The bones were reburied and the site marked by Caldwell per directions.

Child Drowns in Unused Vat Behind Home
Four year old Rachel Foreman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myer Foreman of Lykeng, fell into an abandoned vat behind Simon Stein’s Railroad street residence while playing. Found a little past eleven, the body was pronounced dead. no inquest was deemed necessary by Coroner Dr. Spotz of Hampton.
