Fire destroys Pilgrim gas rig near Ada
A gas well in section 32-4-6 on the Harris farm northwest of the cement plant caught fire and the rig burned to a total loss. The tools were damaged and losses reach eight to ten thousand dollars with only partial insurance. Firefighters from Ada responded but could do little as wind and escaping gas fueled the flames. The well, capable of 1.5 million cubic feet of gas, was being shut in when the fire broke out. This is Ada territory’s second gas well blaze in ten years, the prior Hampton place well burning for days until four boilers and steam suffocated the flames.
