Conservation plans approved by county soil directors
Pentotoc County Conservation District held its monthly meeting on Monday Sept. 13 at the Soil Conservation Office. Directors and attendees approved plans for lands of several residents and purchased 100 copies of PLANTS How They Improve Our Environment for Pon totuc County grade schools. The booklet, by Simms of Albuquerque, is issued by the Men s Garden Clubs of America and costs 25 cents. Site 49 flood control dam surveys are under way with construction slated to begin Jan. 15, 1972 northeast of Stonewall.

Communal farming in France eyed to lure youth back
The French are testing communal farming under a 1962 law to boost efficiency and sustain youth in agriculture. About 2,000 such farms exist, including a Burgundy commune of six planning 740 acres to raise 3,000 hogs yearly with weekly meetings and a rotating manager. The model, aided by a government adviser, aims for larger units and shared finance.

Earl McKendree Pioneer Adan Dies Here Today
Earl E. McKendree, 70, longtime Ada resident and pioneer, died at a focal hospital today at 8:45 a.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kay V. Mills presiding. The body will lie in state until 9 a.m. and burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
