Tuesday's Daily reports the normal opening with large chapel attendance led by Rev. M B Molloy. About 300 students enrolled, 50 percent above prior openings, with 50 more expected. The training department tops at 104, no admissions beyond that. Only eight of sixty eighth grade graduates enrolled, refuting claims the normals are merely town high schools.
Tulsa plans to host the next allied Confederate reunion after Muskogee hosts September 16 17 and 18 1914. About 200 Tulsa members will travel by special train. The statewide event expects roughly 6000 attendees and aims to bring the next reunion to Tulsa.

From Monday at the normal school the day was devoted to enrolling and classifying students. The large number of new students exceeds previous openings. Citation work will begin Tuesday or Wednesday as soon as classification is complete.

Baton Rouge September 8 The Louisiana legislature convenes in special session by governor Hall’s call to arrange payment of the January 1 state bond issue and fill vacancies in the United States Senate. Unable to sell the $11.1 million bond issue at par due to high rates, the board considers issuing ten year notes at needed rates, with potential constitutional changes and a constitutional convention likely.

The Democratic Scram roller announces Duke Stone of Glendale as First Assistant United States District Attorney to begin October 1. Stone, 36, a Democrat, tall at six feet four inches, practiced in Tennessee Texas Oklahoma and California. He will replace Edward A. Regan temporarily during trials of Dr. John Grant Lyman and Cleveland Oil Company directors. Stone resides at 935 Fairview Avenue Glendale with wife and daughter. The place pays 32 99.00 a year.
Cotton receipts at the county yard reached 864 bales by 2 o clock with 129 bales from the round bale gin, totaling 939 for the season. The period is about a month ahead of 1912, with forecasts to exceed 1,500 bales. Market action varied, opening lower then regaining losses by mid morning before a slight drop. Best street prices were 13 cents for lint and 4.65 for seed cotton.
