Lula School Achieves 100 Percent Dental Care
Lula is the county’s only school to qualify 100 percent in the dental health program with all students receiving necessary care. Dr. Robert Inman presented a certificate of achievement to principal C. D. Wheichel, who coordinated the effort by bringing students to the county health office. The district shares program costs via millage contributions. Lula reports zero absenteeism due to toothache.

Pontotoc County soil conservationist Pal Henderson highlights a successful land improvement on C. C. Ross's 275 acre farm seven miles south of Allen. After timber removal over two years, native blue stem and Indian grasses reach three to five feet without seeding, proving grass can thrive when given space. Government covers 50 percent of clearing costs up to four dollars per acre, with total costs around 3.85 dollars per acre for Ross.

An open house reception in Oakman honors Ira Wommack for 50 years as a Church of Christ minister. Born March 8 1887 in Bradford Tennessee he preached in Kentucky Tennessee and Oklahoma since 1909 1910 and later ran a grocery and insurance business while continuing ministry.
