Roping Contest at the County Fair Results
The county fair roping competition awarded Jim McCarty of Sulphur first and $75 with a 25 second run. Charley Thomas of Pontotoc took second and $50 in 31 seconds, Harry Burton of Jesse finished third and $25 in 37 seconds. A wind issue affected throws. one steer was killed with a broken neck. Other contestants included Claud Rainey Hickory and many Pontotoc Ada and Sulphur riders.

Fireworks and fair sights draw crowds at the county event
Tuesday evening the county fair drew a large crowd to the grounds with a roof fireworks display at the normal and thriving show businesses. A frozen fruit and flower exhibit by T. D. Turner & Co and Ada Greenhouse with Ada Ice and Cold Storage Co. freezing drew interest. The livestock, fine arts, and baby show impressed, roping, broncho busting, boxing, and races kept crowds entertained as organizers hope for a permanent, growing fair each year.

Second Bale of Cotton Arrives at Chewat Gin with Premiums
Late Monday afternoon J L Hisaw of Ahloso delivered the second bale weighing 43 pounds. Two years earlier Hisaw brought the first bale. Premium funds totaling 40.50 were raised by W K Chaney and Claude Griffith with 25.50 awarded to the first bale and 15 to the second. The Chewat gin provided the first bale free. Contributors to the fund include First National Bank M and P National Bank Farmers State Bank Oklahoma State Bank and numerous local merchants and firms.
