H. W. Crawford named examiner in charge as the Ada area rent control office opens Friday morning in the Norris-Haney building on West Main in the 100 block.
Washington figures show nine month 1946 man-days lost to management labor disputes at 98 225 000 compared with 38 025 000 for all of 1945. Causes include longer postwar strikes and tougher bargaining. Labor totals include 3 575 strikes and lockouts in nine months, with 3 784 for all of 1945.
The United Nations General Assembly's 14 nation Steering Committee unanimously agreed to include disarmament on the agenda and refer it to the political committee. Soviet proposals to curb arms and outlaw atomic weapons were set for full airing alongside U S demands for inspection. The Spanish question also moves to full debate on Franco regime charges.
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans attended the world premiere of Republic's Home in Oklahoma at the McSwain theater. The event sold out with scalpers charging high prices, and opening sequences featured ranches Flying L and Turner. A late drama touched the cast yet the show proceeded. Roy Rogers rushed from Hollywood for his wife's operation, while Dale Evans injured her ankle and Rickey the Hereford calf died.

The 180th Infantry Company C National Guard reports openings for recruits aged 18 to 35. Eligible veterans may retain previous rank under certain conditions. meetings are Wednesdays 7 30 to 9 30 pm at Ada armory North Broadway with pay 2 50 to 5 50 per night. Executive officers Captain John D. Lucas and First Lieutenants Ball Tribbey Mee Broom. 20 members now and growing.
Maj. David F. Watson, in Frankfurt, is sentenced to three years in prison and dismissed from the U S Army for conspiracy and receiving stolen property tied to the Kronberg castle jewel theft. WAC Captain Kathleen Nash Durant received five years. husband Jack Durant awaits trial.
David Ruge, 16, admits to attempted extortion in criminal court and says he demanded $5,000 to pay for plastic surgery to change his face after being taunted as "monkey face" and "ape" at school. Judge Charles E. Byrne presided.
In the Midtown section of Miami a blaze last night killed an unidentified man, left 125 residents homeless, and injured four others. Fire crews battled the flames as investigators began work at the scene.
