Sudden Illness Proves Fatal To Miss Brandon
Miss Mary Louise Brandon 21 died at an Oklahoma City hospital at midnight Tuesday after about a year of illness. Funeral plans by Criswell Funeral Home. She grew up in Ada and was granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Deering. Survived by three sisters, a stepfather, six aunts, three uncles, and several relatives in Ada Texas and New Mexico.

Mary Catherine Durant Confesses to Backyard Slaying
In Melbourne Arkansas 21 year old Mary Catherine Durant admits killing her stepfather Charles Durant on December 4 1942 after an eight month search. She says she dragged the 200 pound body to a grave she dug in the backyard and lived alone for three weeks. A dog unearthed the body April 4 and she and coach Armanda Rose Durant 44 were charged with first degree murder. She clears her mother from involvement. Sheriff Rodman will seek dismissal of the mother's charge.

Captain Goddard Wounded in Italian Campaign
Capt. C. H. Goddard of the national guard was seriously wounded in action in Italy on September 24. He joined as second lieutenant and was promoted to captain at Fort Devens on July 22, 1942. His wife Mrs Pauline Goddard and their son Charles Jr. reside at 931 1/2 East Thirteenth. He served with the 45th Division in the Sicily invasion and had no prior injuries. He is a graduate of East Central State College.

Flying Instructor and Student Die in Training Plane Crash
A flying instructor John C. Myers formerly of Boston and his student, both American, were killed in a crash near a British flight training school at Ponca City around 3 a.m. They apparently tried an emergency landing in a wheat field but struck a 3 foot embankment.
