In Glendale Arizona two 18 year old youths L D Banes and Clive Chenoworth from Lloydsburg New Mexico tried to abduct a girl from the Good Shepherd Catholic detention home. After a 20 mile desert chase patrolmen forced their car off a rural road west of the city and captured them. They were jailed as officers sought contact with A B Hulsey near the New Mexico Arizona border to verify the car’s registration. No charges filed yet pending further investigation. Driver Sought After Youth Is Injured
A search continued Monday night for a car driver who struck 19 year old hitchhiker Bob Allen Norton two miles north of Ada and fled the scene. Norton, headed toward Oklahoma City, suffered painful but not serious leg injuries and remained hospitalized Wednesday. He described a swerving car that appeared to be off the road just before impact. A statewide radio broadcast sought the vehicle. The area had a second crash in 24 hours as Wesley Yeasts, a 64 year old Hobart physician, lost a crushed hand when his car overturned six miles east of Ada, injuring his wife and seven year old son.
