Murray College Bridges Tech Gap With New Program

Murray State College launches an engineering technology program to bridge the gap between high school vocational training and advanced engineering. The department, led by Dr Clyde Kindell and R B Brisco, expanded to metallurgy electronics and electro mechanical labs funded with about 36000. The approach integrates math and drafting with hands on projects to reduce dropouts and prepare students for industry or further study.

Christmas Eve Deadline For Share Of Wheat Pool

Wheat farmers have until Christmas Eve to decide whether to claim their share of a 4.2 million dollar subsidy pool from 1968 used to back a National Wheat Institute promotion program. Congress authorized use of the funds for promotion and research, with notices limited to farmers holding 3 dollars or more in the fund. If farmers do not respond, funds go to the institute. The pool mostly benefits a small number of growers, with about 832,000 farmers in the group and many receiving tiny payments. Milk production in September rose one percent from a year earlier to 9.25 billion pounds, and output per cow averaged 744 pounds, up two percent from September 1969.
