First Oklahoma liquor raids spark drive for repeal
Oklahoma Governor E W Marland announced the first in a planned series of liquor raids across the state as part of a push for a November repeal and control constitutional amendment. Dave McConnell and Coal County Sheriff raided a Stonewall road house seizing 600 cases of liquor. Six non bureau men toured counties buying liquor and urging raids. The governor said McConnell is acting as a citizen, not a crime bureau agent. He noted enforcement of prohibition is virtually impossible.
