Holdenville mayor Franke Crane released a Detroit fan letter saying Dad Dean should keep their boys home for now. The note claims Dizzy and Paul Deans are enough and implies more Deans are unnecessary for baseball skills.

Registration for the general election on November 6 is open now and closes October 26, announced by county registrar J E Boswell. Transfers are allowed through election day. Boswell anticipates most changes will be transfers with no registrar changes announced for the county's 56 precincts.
A mad dog in the Oil Center community bit several people and dogs. One man kept his dog away. the animal died and rabies was confirmed. At least two children are on anti rabies treatment and officials urge others who may have been bitten to seek serum.
The Court of Appeals cut John H. Gray's sentence from 16 years to 10 for killing tenant Charles Long on a Vontotoc county farm in 1933. The court also upheld a five year term for Henry Estes of Ottawa county for killing Delmar Fugate after a dispute over his daughter.
Superior Judge C Guy Cutlip upheld Governor Murray's executive order directing county officials not to hold tax sales of delinquent properties. A restraining order was issued to stop Vernon L Riker from publishing a delinquent tax list at the expense of taxpayers. The judge said the governor's authority is clear in distressed times. In a Oct 15 decision the Supreme Court refused to review cases on the cancellation of airmail contracts and Capone’s bid for freedom. The court kept lower rulings denying Capone release and upheld a milk sale injunction while preparing to rule on Montana telephone tax laws. Also notes a fatal cotton-wasson accident near Durant.
Washington reports the Agriculture Department finds 3,000,000 tons of feed grains and 1,500,000 tons of hay missing after last summer's drought. Meats will be at their lowest in 35 years, with reduced slaughter and higher feed costs forcing revisions in feeding and imports across the nation.
Bonds of Liové and Rowe, associates of Wilbur Underhill, are set at $100000 each by the eastern federal district of Oklahoma. Dwight Brantley, a DOJ agent, says the two men, charged with the September Farmers National Bank of Sulphur robbery, are in Muskogee jail. Also reports a police shooting injures A E Harrill during a scuffle with Charley Coats as officer Jeter attempted to take Coats to jail on West Main.
Milton Keating formerly of Sulphur now based in Ada serves as secretary for the Ada Chamber of Commerce. He is gathering local business and oil field information and plans to host a dinner for Oklahoma City boosters Thursday evening.
Edward Lickwala, 20, confessed to writing a note demanding 5000 under threat of death to Edsel Ford and pleaded guilty to attempted extortion. He received a ten year federal prison sentence at Leavenworth after authorities thwarted the scheme with a dummy package and surveillance.
Speedy Culbertson of Oklahoma City and Lester Hearn of Holdenville were arrested and charged with forging and passing several $40 checks for Magnolia Petroleum. Officers chased Culbertson here. Hearn was captured at Holdenville. They pleaded not guilty and were bound over on $7,000 bond each for a preliminary hearing set later.
The county clerk's office recorded a busy day with total fees of 166.35 dollars. Cigarette license sales led with 108.40 dollars, as oil and gas development and local real estate transactions spurred activity. By year end, collections outpaced last year's total and were already ahead of 1953.
