Collision Puts Two in Hospital
Two people were hospitalized and a third treated at Valley View hospital after a two car crash near Lotta around 7 forty p.m. Wednesday. Bob Davis 46 of Fitzhugh had head injuries and body lacerations and was sent home. Arlie Davis 42 suffered leg injuries a fractured knee and facial lacerations and remained hospitalized in good condition. Margaret Tyler 47 of Henryetta wife of the other driver Ray Rogers Tyler 50 of Henryetta is treated for a fractured left arm in good condition. Patrolman Van Arsdell said Davis was speeding and tried to curve inside and struck Tyler’s car on a curve south of Latta school. Davis faces charges for driving left of center while meeting another car.

Junior Fishing Derby Draws Ada Crowd at City Lake
More than 200 youths fished the Ada City Lake in the first annual Junior Fishing Derby hosted by the Pontotoc County Sportsmen's Club. Billy Bob Padberg led early with a one pound bass, Art Pokorny followed with a 1.5 pound fish using fly casting. An estimated 350 family members and spectators attended as prizes were offered for largest bass largest catfish and most fish caught. Charges of obtaining money by means of a bogus check were lodged against Buddy Burks Thursday in the JP court of C W Floyd. Burks allegedly passed a fake check to Ada Brick Co for 550 pieces of four inch tile valued at 42.07 dollars. The payment check was drawn on the First State Bank of Purcell and dated July 11 1949.
