Dunning Faces Court Rule Over State Soil Board Appointment
The Oklahoma Supreme Court issued an alternative writ directing Howard A. Dunning of Newcastle to show cause why he should not be barred from serving on the State Soil Conservation Board. The suit, filed by Noble County County Attorney W E Rice after the Oklahoma Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts failed to block the appointment in McClain County District Court, argues Dunning was not a valid soil conservation district supervisor. Rice, long a soil-conservation advocate, pursued the matter to the high court after the injunction denial.
