Cotton forecast shows increased U S production for year
The Agriculture Department forecast a cotton crop of 14,915,000 bales for the year based on October 1 conditions at 55.0 percent of normal. A month earlier the projection was 14,425,000 bales at 55.4 percent of normal, and last year’s crop was 14,478,000 bales with October 1 condition at 54.4 percent. IL worker hurt by falling timber at refinery
J. W. Searberry narrowly escaped serious injury yesterday afternoon while repairing a well at the American Oil and Refining company. A heavy timber 8 by 10 inches thick and two feet long fell 25 feet, striking him on the head and glancing to his shoulder and back. He was knocked unconscious and another worker was stunned. Searberry was taken to Ada hospital for treatment of head and back lacerations and will stay several days.

Glass Sand Plant at Roff Destroyed by Fire
The glass sand mining and drying plant at Roff was destroyed by fire late Saturday afternoon, causing a loss of several thousand dollars. No insurance was carried. The plant, established 15 or 16 years ago by E. C. Larsh, sits on a deposit of excellent sand, with mining steadily advancing. New equipment had just been installed at a considerable cost, increasing the total loss.
