Secretary Anderson urged farmers to boost hog weights and ease cattle fattening, reducing waste from excessive fat as hogs move to market between 180 and 225 pounds.
Somer Jones a former Ada mayor and fire chief died at home after a long career. He served as fire chief from 1920s to 1940s and was mayor for three terms starting in 1924. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Three truck drivers Elmer Morton Elmer Young and Cecil Comba were arrested in Charleston Mex Sept 25 after authorities seized whiskey from their two trucks valued at 2400 wholesale. In Hastings Nebraska a half grown goyate killed six chickens after entering Nelson’s bantam yard through a small hole. A policeman ended the predator’s career the next morning. In Missouri a car crash near Centralis injures Mrs Lee Mavies bury. she escapes serious harm after the vehicle rolled five times and Wes Marksbury crawled from the wreck.
London reports limited tickets for the royal wedding at Westminster Abbey with 1500 seats. Officials plan to accredit four tickets per group to reporters from Dominions, the United States, and foreign press, while motion pictures of the ceremony are restricted.
MINNEAPOLIS October 2 Wheat topped 9 percent in a trading day, with Pillsbury Mills president Philo W. Prilsbery noting wheat prices surged past wartime highs. He recalled 1867 and 1917 price records, and cited historical peaks in 2019 and 2020. F. L. Greenleaf, the featured speaker, argued that dollar wheat is here to stay.
