Men from Oklahoma and nearly a dozen states converge on Ada for the sixth annual Oklahoma Mineral Industries Conference a three day program of busy activity begins Thursday morning with the meeting continuing through the weekend.
The conference in Ada features researchers and officials from Kansas City to Washington with talks on raw mineral materials and mineral fuels. Oklahoma geologists and the state survey will present, with a lobby display of local mineral resources and a banquet and tours planned for attendees.
Pvt. La Don W. Law of North Broadway is recovering in an army hospital at Camp Crowder Missouri after pneumonia. he left the Zorn Feed Store three weeks ago to begin army training and is reported resting well after the crisis.
In Tokyo the Japanese house of representatives roared as Prince Fumimaro Konoye was named among two men deemed fundamentally responsible for the war. Premier Shidehara faced heckling after his state of the nation speech while Takao Saito denounced Konoye and Tojo as war perpetrators. Also noted is a separate line about pollen bags on tassels and British use of 17,000 carrier pigeons in wartime.
Ninety four persons received their discharges from the service last week and had them recorded with the county clerk in the courthouse. Ruth Kuklenski from Pontotoc county is noted among the WAC discharge recipients. Navy and Army personnel listed include dozens of named service members with full names.
Thieves using a block and tackle lifted a grand piano from the third floor of Michael Kostecki s lodging house in Boston. The instrument was recovered soon after in a second hand store where it had been sold for ten dollars.
