In Eastland Texas a 200-strong mob overpowered the jailer, hanged Ratliff the Cisco Santa Claus bandit from a rope on a telecommunication line near the jail, as he faced a pending sanity hearing and an attempted jail break. Two other Cisco gang members had been dealt with by law before. a deputy sheriff was wounded. An inquest and possible prosecutions were planned.

Youth Robber Wrecks Train Three Miles East of Cheyenne
About 40 passengers aboard the Union Pacific Portland Limited were robbed by a youth who derailed six of eight cars by pulling spikes from the rails. The bandit, 22 with a thin face and rough voice, used a revolver and fled after claiming sums from passengers. Sheriff Romsy led a posse to scour the countryside. no serious injuries were reported though several passengers suffered minor bruises.
