The thermometer fell to 40 degrees at midnight as a cold north wind swept Ada with the heaviest rainfall in some time. Intermittent showers continued, but forecasters expect gradual warming and freezing weather to miss the area for now.
A sharp cold front and snow hit Oklahoma with statewide rains giving way to snow at Enid and Blackwell by evening. Ponca City and Oklahoma City reported snowfall as temperatures fell to the 24 to 32 degree range, heavier rain in the east and lighter in the west.
A blustery rainstorm drenched portions of five states leaving one drowned and at least five injured. The body of 85 year old George W. Green, a negro preacher, was found in a waterfilled area near Campi Louisiana. Memphis logged about 11 inches of rain from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon. Many families were marooned in low areas as roofs blew off chimneys collapsed trees uprooted and windows smashed.
Kilgore Texas reports 61 wells completed in the East Texas oil field for the week ending November 18. Total wells rise to 35,110 with a production increase of 1,555 barrels per day and hourly potential up 60,660 barrels. Marginal wells total 2,110.
Pittsb urg speech by Lucien Koch claims 1.4 million southern sharecroppers live in peonage under the new deal. He cites 2,000 Arkansas tenants forming a protest union and says program benefits have not reached the farmers. He also accuses authorities of hindering organization and details a cooperative labor college operation.

A newsboy was badly bruised but not seriously injured when a rope on the back of an Ada Fruit Co truck swung out and tangled him as the vehicle turned a corner on Main Street and Stockton Avenue. He was dragged several feet before the driver noticed. He was taken to a nearby store and found to have no broken bones.
Two men were injured in separate Tuesday night affrays on East Main street and West Fourteenth. Bill Nolen, employee at Sweatt Cleaning Works, suffered multiple knife wounds including one near the lung. he was treated at Sugg clinic and to talk with county authorities later. John Montgomery admitted involvement, claiming self defense. Virgil Mardis was arrested after his brother Henry was struck by No 4 shot, hospitalized at Breco.
Fleetborn Oil in Ada confirms sale of lease on southwest quarter of section 25 2 for 160 acres in the Fitts field to Phillips Petroleum. No price disclosed. Phillips plans to drill No 1 Philip Norris soon. Fleetborn retains other holdings in Fitts and Franks graben. Weather has slowed activity with heavy rains over five days.
Farmers with tax exemption certificates under the Bankhead cotton bill must turn in unused certificates by Saturday November 24 to the national pool for a cash return. If not turned in the certificates expire unless the Bankhead control program continues. if it ends they become worthless.
Miss Vera Payne was struck by an automobile on West Main street late Saturday evening and left at the scene. She suffered a fracture of the right thigh and minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Ada hospital for treatment.
A Buick sedan owned by Mr. Price of the Ada Lumber company was stolen from in front of the First Christian Church during services. The sheriff’s office quickly dispatched two squads and recovered the car within thirty minutes in the southwest part of town with no arrests.
A school bus carrying about 30 children was forced off the road by a blue truck and trailer half a mile south of Ninnekah Oklahoma. Bus driver Aseo Roberts 20 and three children were in critical condition. Witnesses J H and Mrs Dixon of Fort Worth described a misty crash that sent the bus into a concrete bridge. many children suffered broken bones and head injuries.
Ada shows 4.89 inches of rain since November 15 according to Dr. Kr A MacMillan city gauge custodian. Additional rain since 4 pm Tuesday. 4 pm reading planned. heaviest downpour occurred Monday with further rain on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Forecasters warn of coming cold weather tonight or tomorrow.
Oklahoma A and M swept blue ribbons at the ninth annual Great Western Livestock Show in Los Angeles. Tuxedo Bill won grand championship for Baldwin Ranch Pleasanton. Ivan Page Aberdeen Angus calf reserve grand. A and M claimed two herefords four Aberdeen Angus three shorthorns plus other prizes under Prof Blizzard and Arthur MacArthur, with Blizzard judging lambs hogs and carrot entries.
Oklahoma City November 21 Governor Murray ordered the extradition of Clyde Harrison from Tulsa to Jackson County Missouri to face forgery charges.

O. S. Massey of Ada received one or two broken ribs and bruises when his car collided with a truck near McLoud Oklahoma. He was treated at Shawnee and then brought to the Suge clinic where doctors said injuries were not believed dangerous.
D. W. Bryant, an oil field worker, was held up by two armed men as he traveled to work in Fittstown. They forced him to surrender $22.85, escaping in a nearby car. no clues had been found as of last night.
Seminole county farmer Payne about 35 was treated at Sugg clinic after his wagon was struck head on by an automobile along the cut-off road near his home between the McKeown bridge and Sasakwa. His injuries were not serious with bruises and minor cuts. two mules reportedly died and the wagon was demolished. The automobile driver’s name was not released.
Oklahoma moves to speed Governor-elect Marland’s program with seven new committees led by Phillips. Plans include relie f and reform measures, tax relief, abolition of auto tag agents, and a survey of state institutions. A 27-member study panel and a pensions study head by R M Roddie are named.
Ponca City reports John Eddleman, Governor elect E W Marlands pick for state relief administrator is summoned to Washington for meetings with Harry L Hopkins federal relief chief. The move signals a reorganization before Marland takes office in January and follows talks about Carl Giles potential federal role. Politicians view it as end of federal patronage drought due to Marlands ties with the New Deal.
Census Bureau reports 8,632,991 running bales ginned before November 14 this year, excluding lint and counting 163,400 round bales as half bales. Compared with last year at this date 11,248,200 running bales and two years ago 10,533,584, with state tallies listed for Alabama through Virginia and other states.
World war veterans registered with the National Re-employment Service, especially those with trade skills, are told to report immediately to the headquarters in room 214 at the Federal Building. Several contracts will be let soon and veteran applications with discharge papers or Veterans Bureau claim numbers that are active and properly certified will receive preference. The office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Two inmates were shot and seriously wounded as five convicts attempted a break from the Oklahoma penitentiary in McAlester during a heavy rain at 7 15 p m. The wounded were Bill Anderson and Melvin Gatlin. Also among those involved were Grady Mickle Gordon Blood Clarence Lions. Guards fired as the group carried a makeshift ladder. Mickle had stabbed Paul Evans earlier in a parole-related incident. Seven guards were suspended after a prior Gatlin escape.
The Schoolmasters club of Pontotoc county met Tuesday night at Vanoss with strong attendance and an engaging program. Vanoss high school provided musical numbers as part of the evening. Dr A Linscheid spoke on school taxation and funding challenges, urging new revenue to sustain education. The club voted to install a telephone in the county superintendent’s office to aid administration. A legislative committee including Ray Stegall Frank Spencer and W Gregory was named to work with the Oklahoma Education Association and state lawmakers on school legislation.
St Louis observer Joseph R. Cosgrove, head of the sixth district federal intermediate credit bank, said farming conditions improved in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas. He cited rapid loan repayments aiding crop financing, noting over 90 percent of 1994 cotton loans in the district have been paid and the bank has discounted 333,170,074 in cotton loans with 257,880 still unpaid.
Warden Sam Brown said two convicts Melvin Gatlin and Bill Anderson were not seriously wounded after being shot during a failed escape from Oklahoma's state prison. Five prisoners climbed a crude ladder in a driving rainstorm but guards halted the attempt with gunfire. doctors expect swift recovery.
Oklahoma City reports Marvin Wooten of Seminole County plans to introduce a bill in the next legislature to impose life imprisonment on anyone who organizes or joins a nudist colony in the state. Wooten cites nationwide nudist trends and existing obscenity statutes.
Frank P. Douglass of Oklahoma City was named a member of the textile labor relations board at Washington. He succeeds James A. Mullenbach of Chicago who resigned due to illness. Douglass has previously served on four railway labor mediation boards.
