Oklahoma Governor J C Walton was ousted by a Senate impeachment vote amid charges of corruption incompetence and moral turpitude. Lieutenant Governor Trapp announced a new administration promising efficient governance and cross party cooperation.
The Norman Howard post American Legion will elect new officers next Tuesday night as members meet to choose leaders for the coming year. Commander Elbert Reed announced the meeting and the election is viewed as one of the post's most important in light of upcoming regional events and local duties. An extensive membership drive will follow the election to boost enrollment in the county.
Mervin Standridge ten years old of 221 West Fifteenth Street was struck by a car driven by Prof W B Morrison at Main and Broadway Monday night. He was knocked down but today officials report his condition is excellent and no one is to blame. The boy did not see the car coming.
Oklahoma City November 21. Judge Cotteral dismissed J C Walton’s federal bid to nullify the senate court impeachment verdict. Walton says he will appeal to the U S Supreme Court. Legislature moves to clean up administration and consider anti Klan legislation. The board plans to impeach Charles H Ruth and seeks to expel Guy H Sigler for alleged profiteering in executive clemency.
A new chemical process is reported to enable bricks to be made from cinders on the building site. The development could streamline construction by producing ready bricks and reducing material transport. Further tests are planned to verify durability and heat resistance.
H W Wacker sold his interest in Wacker's Variety Store in Ada to G F Wacker of Pauls Valley. The new owner will operate the Ada store and others in the chain. After year start, H W Wacker will relocate to California to pursue business interests.
The Cemetery Association let a contract for a double row of sq uade trees along the road from the city limits to Rosedale cemetery. About 150 to 200 native forest trees will be planted using trees large enough to grow quickly. This is one of several cemetery improvements extended over several years with more planned to follow.

Officials of the M-K-T railroad expect an early resumption of full traffic between Shawnee and Atoka with the Katy main line. Traffic already runs Oklahoma City to Konawa through Shawnee and bridge repairs between Konawa and Atoka aim to secure through service with minimal washout risk. M. M. Harwell notes no details on electrification plans and their effect on Ada traffic.
District court may suspend all sessions through year end and into next year until July 1 due to budget constraints. Oklahoma City Nov 20 A resolution to expel Murray Gibbons Purcell speaker of the house for alleged use of office to obtain executive clemency and interfere with an October election was introduced by a committee investigating members The house scheduled a 2 pm discussion and deputies sought removal on charges including corruption and parole influence for Ira Williams The senate adjourned after brief formalities and continued impeachment proceedings involving Justice Ruth and others with statements by officials and anticipated fast trial timelines
Between twenty five and thirty thousand dollars flowed into the county treasury over the past two months from buyers of confiscated real estate due to delinquent taxes. Many certificates have been redeemed by former owners since the county took over the properties, and refunds have been issued. Owners have two years to redeem purchased property. otherwise claims transfer to the purchaser. Purchasers include individuals, corporations, and real estate firms, with county staff kept busy processing these transactions. Tax collections via the sheriff remain slow, but activity is expected to rise later in the year.
Paris reports a principle agreement among ambassadors to reimpose allied military control in Germany subject to French and Belgian cabinet approval. France will keep occupation on the Rhine left bank and bridgeheads until Versailles terms are fully executed while Ruhr policy awaits Belgian accord and broader treaty enforcement.
Horace Hagan of Tulsa, member of the state soldier relief commission, was exonerated in a preliminary report to the state legislature. Fred Hanson of Walters, committee chairman, said Hagan did not violate Legion harmony and did not participate in awarding an irregular contract at Sulphur state hospital.
Justice Kirkpatrick voided the will of Dr. Chas M. Freeman dated in New Brunswick. The document left $110,090 to chauffeur Harry Morehing and reduced wife Mary E Wilkins to a token share of about $1,090 amid probate disputes.
The Allen National and the Depositors State Bank consolidated last Saturday night. The new bank moved into the Depositors State building and opened after Armistice Day with combined assets and staff. C. F. Johnston presides, J W Pegg and N Olivo as vice presidents, H F Redwine as cashier, and a six member board including O F Johnston and W N Tate. Deposits total 263,468.56 with stockholders' worth listed at five million dollars. The consolidation brings strong prospects and goodwill from local citizens.
Serious efforts will be made in the spring to promote development of oil fields located in two distinct areas along the west coast of Newfoundland.
The Southern Ice and Utilities Co begins buying cream across the trade territory and concentrating it at Ada to ship to its creamery Texarkana. Roy Givens, Ada plant manager, says the aim is to measure cream volume from the region and determine if a creamery can be supported. If feasible, the company will pursue opening a creamery with the Ada ice and ice cream factory.
The Lancaster & Smith well is drilling at about 1925 feet and visitors report many inquiries about the Clark & Gilbert strike. Rumors of additional wells abound as officials expect more rigs soon and plan field extent assessment over the coming months.
Roff is building a road six miles north of Gilbert to the Gilbert & Clark well for motor traffic. The new road is reported in good condition allowing easy access, while the Ada route is fair with a few difficult short stretches. Many acreage holders in the area are staying in Ada and struggle to reach the well and return.
Allen high school and Roff high school played to a scoreless tie on Thursday afternoon. The heavier visitors failed to breach Allen’s defense, while both teams battled in a rough game marred by fumbles. Roff showed sportsmanlike play. an armless reader device for turning book pages is noted.
A special meeting of Ada Chamber of Commerce directors discussed improving roads out of Ada. A committee led by President Canning and Secretary Waner will work with county commissioners, with another session planned to dive deeper into fixes for oil pool routes to Vaness and Roff and for roads to Pontotoc Conerville and the South Canadian river bridge.
Census Bureau figures through November 1 show Bryan County leading Oklahoma cotton production with 18 988 bales versus 13 272 last year. Carter, Love, Pontotoc rise or fall with varied totals. state output 295 840 bales, down from 640 448 in 1922.
