Highway Board Approves Oklahoma Bridge Painting Plan
The State Highway Commission in Oklahoma City approves a statewide bridge painting program targeting 47 bridges at an estimated 471,990 dollars. Bridges chosen are most deteriorated by rust and weathering and in critical need of painting. the last program was in 1958. The division estimates about 400,000 dollars yearly to maintain ongoing painting, with about 5,900 bridges in the system and only exposed steel bridges requiring repainting.
