Fish Monitoring Plan By Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation

Local Ada Couple Killed In Pickup Train Wreck
An Ada couple died Sunday after their northbound pickup was struck at a railroad crossing by a Frisco freight train. Charles Henry Moran, 85, and Pest Matilda Moran, 84, were killed in the crash near Oak Street. A witness said Moran stopped at the crossing and drove into the train’s path as rain reduced visibility. The engine pulled a 54-car, 2786-ton train at 19 miles per hour. the pickup was moved 495 feet along the tracks. Mrs Moran was thrown 254 feet from impact. Moran 475 feet. The accident marks Ada’s first fatal collision of the year.

Dowells Appeal Conviction For Tax Evasion
Oklahoma City AP report says Dr A L Dowell a Negro city council member and his wife appeal a federal tax evasion verdict claiming possible discrimination by an all white jury. They were convicted Aug 6 of evading 7800 dollars in income taxes from 1962 to 1965 and Dowell was sentenced to three years in prison while Mrs Dowell received probation. Their lawyer James Berry said the appeal to the U S Circuit Court of Appeals centers on the government failing to prove wilful evasion and Dowell argues underpayments were the fault of an accountant.
