Rain delays panhandle evacuation plan for drought area
Dust battered farmers in the Oklahoma panhandle rejected a plan to evacuate non urban areas despite a recent rain. Oklahoma Conservation Commissioner Vaughan said a ten year program of wind erosion control and possible regional laws would encourage landowners to move to greener fields while governments offer inducements. The plan aims to plant desert areas and curb future dust storms, with coordination among Oklahoma and neighboring states.
