Edwin Dabney opening statements call for murder conspiracy to kill W. E. Smith, his Osage wife Rita, and a white maid in Fairfax blast of March 1923. Burkhart and accomplices alleged to have hired an assassin, with Hale and John Ramsey to be tried later.
Enrollment rush continues at East Central with students from across the state and beyond. Last summer’s official total was 2 377 and this year is expected to rise as Okmulgee Henryetta Okemaha and smaller schools close. Eighteen people died Sunday in a series of aviation and train incidents. Four died in four airplane accidents and 14 perished in three major grade crossing crashes. Notable events include a trapeze performer grave accident at Chariton Iowa and a fatal hover crash near Bessemer Alabama.

Mrs. L. C. Smith formerly Miss Marguerite Anderson died in a collision on the Drumright-Bristow road near Tulsa. Her husband Leonard A. Smith survived. the infant son and father escaped unharmed. The family prepared to bury her in Rosedale cemetery as out‑of‑town relatives arrived for the funeral plans.
Lieut Commander James H. Strong, piloting the PB 1 on a Hawaii leg, is indicted for complicity in a rum smuggling ring involving federal county and city officials. Bail set at 3000 dollars in San Diego. about 200 people indicted, including three Coast Guard officers, a county sheriff, deputies, and a Seattle police officer.
Judson Hendryx, a deaf and mute orphan, was struck Friday evening at Thirteenth Street and Stockton Avenue by a hit and run driver who fled. He was taken to Brecko Hospital where doctors report he is recovering from injuries and shock. He directed rescuers to carry him to the fire station, which became his improvised hang-out. His pockets were empty as he appealed for help.
Abd el Krim the Rif war chief agrees to surrender to French forces in Fez and will be escorted to Taza under Jules Steeg. He places himself and his family under French protection and releases all prisoners in the Rift before notification.

The Blue Mound Ladies Kiwanis club and guests enjoyed a farm feast at the Bulloch farmhouse near the Blue Mound schoolhouse. Blackburn and Miss Bess Shayliss with Fred Faunt LeRoy entertaining. Some members were lost en route due to lack of instructions.
Washington May 26 The senate judiciary committee will probe the legality of President Coolidges prohibition enforcement order amid a growing debate. Rep Hill plans to move a measure to bar federal officers acting in state matters, while Treasury and White House officials deny plans for broad application. Mellon also remarking he would not have endorsed it had he known the uproar.
Ada marks Memorial Day with church sermons and a 2 30 pm service at the Convention hall hosted by the Norman Howard post American Legion. The public is invited to honor fallen comrades with brief services and a stirring address, followed by flower scattering at Rosedale Cemetery.
Benja Min Quapaw third chief of the Quapaw tribe and among its wealthiest members died at a Miami hospital after surgery. He was about 70, though friends believed he may be older. He was known among white settlers and Indians alike.
