A severe early Thursday storm drenched Puntowec County with brief heavy rain and vivid lightning. Ada gauge reported 0.54 inches as a second downpour hit after a dry gap, but officials expect the Ada Tula Central Class A clash at Hereford Park to proceed pending further weather.
The Ada convention area will host the State Jaycees meeting this Friday as they relocate to Ada for the event. Local clubs anticipate speeches, workshops, and civic projects highlighting young leadership across districts.
Ada Jaycees and Janes prepare for a three day Oklahoma Junior Chamber of Commerce convention in Ada. Registration opens Friday at Aldridge hotel with meetings, a party, and events through Sunday. The schedule includes golf, committees, breakfasts, radio programs, luncheons, banquets, and adjournment at 4 PM. More than 600 delegates expected.

Eight crewmen of a British flying boat were released after questioning in Tel Aviv. The RAF Sunderland, flying from Bahrain to the Suez Zone, was forced down by Israeli fighters who fired a warning across its nose for straying from the air corridor. Israeli sources called the incident closed.
Tulsa police say a 22 year old yard man admitted beating three members of a Tulsa family in their home early today. Emil Turk 54 Dorothy Turk 50 and Mrs Anna Appleman 85 were assaulted and hospitalized but expected to recover. James C Alexander temp orarily employed by the Turks was arrested after the bludgeoning. He said he went to rob the Turk home.
China welcomed 150000 troops who withdrew from Chushan Island without firing a shot. President Chiang Kai-Shek and Madame Chiang greeted them with praise and seven Permogeh dollars each. Citizens cheered with banners and banquets as soldiers disembarked singing long live Kiang and the Republic.

In Shawnee Ohio May 18 a Blue Jay harasses a cat named Peter, diving and screaming as the bird buzzes the windows. Wilam Davis had a three year suspended sentence revoked by District Judge Hoyt Driskill after a guilty plea to larceny of an automobile. He had served 32 days in jail and was sentenced to three years in a state peniten Gary at McAlester on good behavior.
