Famous Editor Wilford Simmons Dies at 80
Wilford Collins Simmons, 80, editor and founder of the Lawrence Journal-World, died in Lawrence Kansas from a heart condition after two years of illness and a six week absence from his office. He is the father of Dolph Simmons, publisher and president of the Journal-World and a director of the Associated Press. Born in Owatonna Minnesota he had lived in Kansas since 1877 and spent the last 60 years in Lawrence. He played a prominent role in city and state affairs.
