Prague reports a new political turn as German faction leaders join Konrad Henlein, with Erwin Zajicek expected to resign from cabinet. Observers foresee a Czech Slovak transition cabinet seeking a pact with Henlein’s Sudeten German party and satellites holding 300 seats.
Sheriff reports the Ada Greenhouse burglary on Monday night likely involved amateurs, possibly youngsters. About $25 was recovered where dropped. fingerprints were found on the register as detectives continue the investigation. The theft occurred while Pists attended a local theater after failing to trigger the alarm.
A quiet title dispute over Stonewall's water supply was settled by Judge Tal Crawford. The city of Stonewall claimed the land as part of its water system, with H G Foster acting for the Nebhut estate asserting ownership. The court ruled Stonewall's title superior, dating from 1925, nullifying Nebhut’s junior claim.
President Lazaro Cardenas announced in Mexico City that the government will begin immediate indemnification of 17 American and foreign oil companies whose properties, valued at about 400 million dollars, were expropriated. He spoke after a mass demonstration in support of the seizure and defended the action as necessary to defend independence.
The B. C. D. Edwards No. 1 Clark well, located four miles south of Stratford in NE corner 16-3-3, reported a new pool near Ada. Drilled to 1 905 feet with 20 shots, the sand produced seven and a half to 10 barrels per hour, shutdown at 5 pm for tank space. Operators plan to name the pool New Edwards pool in a 4,000 acre block assembled by Charles Hagerling.
Oklahoma City March 28 Joe C. Scott incumbent announced as candidate for the Democratic nomination for president of the state board of agriculture. Scott was appointed by Governor Marland last year succeeding John Coffey who later joined the highway commission.
A car owned by W. W. Hood on highway 48 near the Jack Forks bridge south of Ada sideswiped a truck driven by Abthy Rozell as they tried to pass on the bridge. Hood and several passengers escaped injury though his left front fender was badly damaged.
County officers seized 15 pints of tax paid whiskey at a pool hall north of Ada along Highway 43. Tom Ard was jailed awaiting arraignment on a possession charge after the sheriff’s raid.
The new Ada fairgrounds grandstand to seat 1000 will be built of concrete in four units. The project, estimated at 8000 to 9000 dollars with 3500 local funds, received WPA and budget bureau approval and is expected to be funded mainly by federal aid within days. It will be unroofed initially but a cover can be added later. a lighting upgrade has moved from the old park and Ada High plans to use the field for football and other city school games this summer.
Oklahoma City March 23 Pim State Treasurer Hubert Bolen announced steps to issue tax anticipation notes under a new law. He, Governor Marland and State Auditor C. C. Childers will set interest rates to cover non payable warrants at four percent, with Attorney General Williamson to initiate proceedings. They hope to sell notes at two percent, pending a court test of validity as the state fund deficit hovers around eight million.
A state forecast predicts warmer conditions after freezing overnight in the Panhandle. Federal weather observer Harry Wahlgren cited a 33 reading at Waynoka with sub-freezing Panhandle counties. Scattered showers occurred yesterday with little to none expected next 24 hours. Tulsa reported .23 inch, Muskogee .08, Oklahoma City a trace.
A chicken brooder at 1124 South Cherry Avenue was slightly damaged by fire around 2 30 Wednesday afternoon. Fire department members who responded reported little damage. The brooder belonged to J E McElreath of Ada.
Fort Sill Oklahoma artillery school would receive 23265 for special supplies and equipment next fiscal year. 15245 would fund technical and educational materials, 7920 for civil service pay, and 28 carriages plus 75 millimeter M2 guns urged to modernize light batteries. Radio sets urged to remain funded for frontline communication. The House committee cut 331000 for new barracks at Fort Sill in 1938 39, deeming it not pressing.
District Judge Tal Crawford awarded Betty Lou Posey 7500 dollars after a suit against G W Simon and the Flint Big Company. Posey, then 16, was struck by an employee of the company while waiting for a school bus near rural road and Highway 48. Her father T J Posey filed the petition seeking 80000 dollars.
Vienna reports German troops reached the Yugoslav border and established friendly contact with neighboring forces as 3,000 political prisoners were moved from Austria. Among those jailed for alleged insults to the Nazi regime was Archduke Josef Ferdinand Habsburg, the highest ranking aristocrat arrested thus far. A festive gathering occurred on the Yugoslav frontier between German and Yugoslav troops.
Oklahoma Governor Marland ordered banks to halt payments on all attorney fees tied to the liquidation of the Exchange Trust Co in Tulsa until legality is determined. New claims for legal services totaling 12000 were filed, with hearings set and an audit underway as state officials review disbursements from a 350000 liquidation fund.
Paris March 24. The ten day Popular Front government of Premier Leon Blum faced danger as the senate finance committee preferred a national union cabinet and rejected part of Blum’s financial program. If the senate adopts the committee plan, Blum may resign and demand a national union cabinet urged when he took office again March 14. Reports said France might follow Britain’s isolation stance and withhold immediate military aid to Czechoslovakia if invasion occurs.
Insurgent headquarters announced 35,000 loyalists were being driven into a trap along an 186 mile Ebro front near Saragossa after renewed hostilities. Franco's forces reported the loyalist salient within 18 miles of Saragossa, fleeing east toward Catalonia to avoid pincers from north and south as the drive toward the Mediterranean continues.
In Fittstown area neighbor dispute over a cow led to a shotgun discharge toward Andy Cox after Murray claimed unlawful removal of the animal from Murray premises. Cox argued ownership and unlawful penned, with sheriff’s office called to calm the situation as court actions unfold.
Guthrie March 23. The Logan county jail keys were returned to Sheriff Milo Beck after a district court jury acquitted him on three counts related to beating a prisoner. The jury, which deliberated about one hour and 40 minutes, returned acquittals on maladministration and neglect of duty, and oppression in office. An order reinstating Beck was signed by District Judge Jess J. Worten following the verdict.

Officials cite uncertain political conditions in Europe and concerns about military use of the gas. R. V. Philpot of Fittstown and Dave McConnell of Pontotoc were hospitalized after a two vehicle collision north of Fittstown at about 2:30 am. Philpot suffered a broken leg and dislocated knee while McConnell had minor cuts and a badly lacerated nose.
A left rear wheel from a vintage automobile ran amuck five miles south of Ada on highway 4 near six o clock Wednesday evening. It damaged two cars, shattering a windshield and denting a top, injuring several family members from flying glass. The wheel rolled 100 yards in its high speed assault, striking cars driven by Edward Tate Harrison and George Overturf.
Judge Alfred P. Murrah opened the federal district court session on Wednesday morning to clear the criminal docket. Hart Brown of Seminole was sentenced to one year in the El Reno reformatory for counterfeiting and placed on probation for five years after term completion. The civil docket began mid afternoon with the session focused on civil matters.
Oklahoma City March 22 informs that Harry W. Bane resigned today as area supervisor for the Works Progress Administration at Enid. Ron Stephens, state WPA administrator, appointed Myron Grose close to the post temporarily.
Oklahoma City March 23 State school land commission reversed its plan and awarded 541000 in bonds to two syndicates that bid highest at last July’s sale. The action voided keeping bonds in the state building fund for dormitory infirmary and university projects with opposition from state leaders and supporters led by Berry King.
Bulletin reports a French mail plane crashed in flames near Cortsavy in the Pyrenees at 815 p.m. Wednesday. Three crew members aboard, unknown number of passengers, plane en route from Casa Blanca to French Morocco with a stop at Barcelona. rescue parties expected to reach wreckage Thursday morning after a severe snow storm. In Chengchow China defense line along the Yellow River held against Japanese advance, with Chinese forces halting drives toward Suchow and counterattacking in southern Shantung.
Bobby Gist of Konawa exhibited a Chester White pig that won first place in its division at the Southeast Oklahoma Junior Livestock Show and was later named reserve grand champion in swine. The same animal placed second in its Chester White class at the statewide junior livestock show in Oklahoma City.
Byng high school girls entered the National AAU women tournament at Wichita Kansas as the Ada Red Pirates. Tuesday they won their first consolation round game crushing the Kansas City Bluebirds 45 to 15. Byng had lost the previous night to the Wichita Thurstons in the first round.
