"The Male Animal" drew a dull house at East Central college auditorium, but is expected to set a capacity crowd for tonight. The three act farce by James Thurber and Ellett Nugant is a crowd pleaser with a light, enjoyable tone. Dorothy Summers directs and notes the play is not to rave about, just good fun. Admission is 25 and 50 cents at the door for tonight’s show. a third performance is planned Friday afternoon for Senior Day visitors.

Helicopter Rescues Stranded Pilot After Four Day Ordeal
In CLE ELUM WASH March 23 a missing amateur pilot Victor C Roberts was rescued after four days in a Cascade snowfield. He had crashed on frozen Lake Waptus en route from Enbrata to Seattle. Frostbitten feet hands shock and a possible back injury were reported. Airmen Wallace L Boyd and John J Robbins parachuted in to trace his tracks and guided a helicopter to the victim.

In Redondo Beach California three sea lions had been trapped for months in an underground pool at a Southern California Edison steam plant that connects to the ocean by a 1100 foot conduit. Marine expert Darcy McBride captured two of the animals using nets as they slept on a work raft. a 250 pound male remained in the pool. The sea lions had access to food via fish entering the conduit, and workers continued efforts to rescue the final animal.
