Threats by 300 British army troops who had enlisted in the United States threaten to sink the transport Tolon unless they are allowed to land. Among them 81 are American citizens. Captain Jackson, commanding the Tolon, reported the ship was at the soldiers' mercy as they demanded rail passage to the United States.

Amelia E. Barr, renowned authoress, died last night at her Richmond Hills home in New York.
