Stonewall Sportsmen Build 30 Acre Lake Near Town
The Stonewall Sportsmen's Club launched a lake project after a January 25 meeting. Construction began February 20 with three bulldozers, aiming for a 24 000 yard dam, but rain slowed progress. Located on the Macon Harper place north of Stonewall, the 477 acre drainage area lake will be about a half mile long and 39 feet deep, costing around 10000 with 5000 cash outlay. The club has raised 2500 so far and expects rapid growth to about 250 members as the project becomes a community venture and weekend draw for fishing and swimming.

Board Plans Bermuda Planter Rental Program
The local Soil Conservation District board to rent Bermuda planter machines at ten dollars per day with a ten dollar minimum and a hourly rate of one dollar twenty five after day one. State aide Johnnie Boring will arrange. Harral Allen says time based rentals ensure the machines stay in operation and roots are planted quickly. Continued on Page 2.

Purse Lost At County Fair Sought By Ada Chamber
For six months the Ada Chamber of Commerce seeks the owner of a lost child’s purse found at the county fair last September. The purse is black felt with a compact and $1.02 inside. If the owner does not claim it, the money will be given to the Salvation Army.

Allan Herion Injured in Car Accident Near Durant
Mr and Mrs H B Herion learned their son Allan Herion was injured in an automobile crash near Durant while returning to Perrin Field from Denison Texas. His jaw was broken and throat cut, threatening the jugular. a fellow airman had a broken leg. He was moved to Perrin Field hospital and faces a period before he can speak.

Vanoss FFA and FHA held their 20th annual Parent-Son and Daughter banquet with about 300 attendees at the high school gym. The event celebrated “Fifty Years of Agriculture and Home making in Oklahoma,” noting FHA members completed 52 home projects and have 64 planned, plus a Red Cross first aid class earning certificates for 18 Vanoss women.

The county hosts a Bermuda grass planter demonstration on March 1 at Wesley Brantley farm west of Lata. From 2 to 4 pm the sprigger machine worked, showing rapid Bermuda establishment. About 125 locals attended to watch the gadget in action, with two units now available to county farmers through Ada Chamber of Commerce and Ada Kiwanis Club.

4 H Cattle School Set For Friday
The County 4 H Commercial Cattle Grading school and contest will be held Friday March 8 at 1 p m at Reeves Packing Company. The four high individuals will comprise the county team in the state contest. The Ada Chamber of Commerce will pay all expenses for the county team.
