All Star Game Ready to Go
The fourth Annual News All Star basketball game is set for Monday night March 7 with selected players coaches and officials. Doyle Walls Stonewall leads boys with 464 votes and Lou Ellen Smith tops girls with 458. Bands from Allen and Latta High Schools will perform for the North and South games. Referees are Hugh Warren and Paul Landrith.

4-H Cattle Grading Contest Draws Big Crowd
The Pontotoc County 4-H cattle grading and judging contest drew 124 4-H boys to the Reeves Plant near Ada for a big event. Fifteen leaders and parents attended as spectators and 14 Latta FFA boys joined for practice. Contestants judged ten head of slaughter cattle on grade weight and yield under guidance from Clyde Reed and Everett Reeves.

Minnie Baugh Keeps On Going In Francis Town Story

Knickmeyer Minnie Baugh recalls Francis once a bustling division point on the Frisco railroad with two banks two restaurants a hotel and the Harvey House now only shells remain on Main Street. She arrived in 1907 at age 31 and is now 79 as she watches a sleepy town fade from its busy past to quieter days.

Growers Urged To Release Unused Allotments

Sweet Clover Boosts Wheat Yields in Four Year Rotation
Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station researchers compared continuous wheat with a four year wheat sweet clover rotation at Perkins Farm from 1933 to 1953. The rotated system averaged 21.3 bushels per acre vs 16.6 for continuous wheat and also improved soil structure and water infiltration. Byron T. Smith noted improved soil benefits alongside higher yields.
