Berlin reports mark Day of Mourning as Germany protests the Versailles treaty 14 years after its signing. The era under Hitler consolidates power with the dissolution of the nationalist party, amid broader European tension.
County farmers sign pledges to reduce cotton acreage under a national plan to boost prices and cut surpluses. Meetings at schoolhouses will explain contracts allowing 25 to 50 percent plow up and offer cash options or cash plus option on stored government cotton.
Oklahoma City June 24 Governor Murray issued an order directing state institutions and departments to submit three month expenditure estimates starting July 1 under amended appropriation bills. The governor can cut budget needs if revenues fall short while the balance system prevents excess spending. Flags lowered to half staff mark a day of nationwide demonstrations. Berlin church leaders plan prayers as editorials push for redrawn borders and German self defense amid Versailles-era changes.
Next week the Glorious Fourth celebration at Wintersmith park features terrapin race ring tournament water contests and a grand horse parade. The parade starts from Glenwood park at 1 pm and ends at the city lake with prizes for best horse and saddle best three and five gaited horses and best rider. At the lake ring contest offers prizes and spectators will enjoy fancy stunts and a fireworks display at night.
Stillwater June 28 Joint checks to cotton growers and lien holders will be issued for cash benefits under the federal cotton acreage reduction plan. C A Cobb in Washington notified D P Trent state director and suggested contract language to protect lien holders and producers.
Miss Kathryn Jackson earned a scholarship to the Clarence Bure Music Camp at Oklahoma City University after winning first place in piano and violin in state high school contests. Due to her mother's health, she cannot attend the Ozarks camp session from July 3 to August 5.
In Grand River near Cleora Oklahoma Wilma Beck 16 and Meda Jo Cantrell 15 both of Muskogee drowned after entering a deep hole while swimming with Meda Jo Cantrell’s brother H C Cantrell. Paul Shapin 24 of Vinita drowned the day before. A nearby child’s distress prompted rescue efforts. Double funeral services set for Cleora.
In London on June 28 the American dollar fell to 4.38 1 4 pounds in after hours trading, a new low since Britain dropped the gold standard. The rate showed a loss of 14 3 8 cents from yesterday’s bank close.
Judge J F McKeel signed a temporary injunction to close the house occupied by Mrs Myrtle Cordray at 830 West Eighth. A July hearing was set on an application to make the closing permanent. The action, brought by Joe Neal chief of police and prepared by county attorney Truman Harrison, alleges the residence is a public nuisance.
J E Boswell Ada county registrar urges residents planning to move between precincts to transfer registration before the July 11 election. Registration closes June 30. Do not re register to avoid dual registration. must check out old precinct before voting in new one across multiple Ada precinct boundaries.
Major crude oil purchasers in Oklahoma asked the state corporation commission to lift wildcat restrictions and open three new fields Keokuk Falls in Seminole county Sasakwa area and the Calvin sand at Earisboro. The fields are undeveloped with only a few wells producing up to 50 barrels a day. The commission hearing in July indicated market demand similar to last month.
About 200 workers at Texas Textile mills in McKinney walked out for higher pay and shorter hours. Night shift joined by day crews amid rising output and 450 to 500 total employees. A notice said pay and hours would change July 17 with no violence reported. The mills are a major local enterprise and large producer of colored goods west of the Mississippi.

Oklahoma City reports mid session conferees agreed to pass the administration income tax bill with two major amendments. Rates run one to six percent with a 20 percent depletion or a cost deduction optional for taxpayers. Senators supported the revised measure amid a scaled back referendum option and emergency tax program concerns.
James W. Lewis postmaster announces that starting July 1 1933 window service will be closed after 2 p m each Saturday. Incoming mail still processed and first class mail to business section continues. Outgoing mail pickup unchanged. Emergency cases receive attention.
County officers search for 9 year old Lottie Bell Chandler abducted at 2 am from her aunt Mrs. Ben Cash in Stonewall. Cash fired at the abductor as the car sped away. Grandmother Mrs. Annie Klevedans and Ben Brown are being questioned. The case is tied to unresolved family matters.
Washington reports organized labor pressing for a $14 weekly minimum after wins on parts of a competition code for the cotton textile industry.
The Reconstruction Finance Corporation made work program requires reregistration by June 30. Ada men on relief or seeking made work must register at the county relief work headquarters. Under new rules, those ineligible include pensioners, farm owners, or anyone with income or income-producing business, with applicants divided into relief and non relief groups.

P mobilization of Oklahoma employers to support administration of the national industrial recovery act will get under way Friday when members of the Associated Industries convene here. Details of the act will be set forth by M. O. Matthews Ada president of the group and Harry V Kahie secretary. Oklahoma industry is ready to lend full cooperation.
Oklahoma City June 27 The Oklahoma House voted 63 to 34 to ask Governor Murray to allow a special session to submit the repeal question to a vote of the people. The concurrent resolution moves to the Senate. Governor Murray vetoed a bill for conventions to pick delegates, calling the issue unconstitutional in the regular session.
Governor Murray signed the $132,000 appropriation bill for the beer election July 11 and the ad valorem reduction referendum August 15. No counters will be employed, the inspector, judge and clerk taking over the work.
In Wichita Falls Texas June 28 two police officers C S Carlisle and E M McCord were wounded in a taxi dispute investigation. They and Henry Hughes a taxi driver were shot by an unknown man who opened fire as they moved toward a taxi believed to be a robbery attempt.
Mary Jacqueline Elkins daughter of Me-Ti-An-Kah Osage Indian who died in 1916 wins a crucial legal round in a $1 590 000 estate dispute. District Judge Jesse J Worren affirms county court, ruling she is the sole heir at law and overrules Minnie Elkins Smith motion to vacate administratorship.
Ada rancher M L Jamison may head live stock and ranching for the new Atoka sub penitentiary farm. He and J L Neely, already named superintendent, conferred with the state board of affairs in Oklahoma City.
