Kansans face weeks of flooding winds and hail as storms cause deaths and extensive damage. A western Kansas tornado toppled over 45 homes and damaged 48 others, with at least 14 people reported killed amid ongoing severe weather.
First Lt. Carl H. Dodd, Medal of Honor recipient, says he was outside the Lincoln American Legion post in Barlan Kentucky when a fight began inside the building Saturday night. He insists he was not involved and did not hit anyone, noting that several participants were taken away afterward.

J. A. Richardson was elected a director Thursday morning on the Lions International Board. The honor comes after balloting by about 40,000 Lions from 32 nations in Atlantic City New Jersey. Taft pressed for a longer view post Korea war and warned against escalating taxes triggering wage demands and inflation. Byrd proposed cuts of about 3 billion, citing revenue estimates far above congressional projections and challenging spending reductions. Snyder favored cuts that do not harm the economy, but would not accept Byrd’s numbers as the basis for a smaller tax bill.
