Wildlife Tracts Set Aside For Pontotoc Quail
Pontotoc County sets aside 13 tracts of 112 acres each for wildlife habitat this year. The areas are developed with food and cover for quail and other species. Funds awarded include 75 dollars to the Vaness FFA Chapter and 50 dollars to the Roff chapter, from a contest sponsored by the Pontotoc County Sportsmen's Club in cooperation with the federal wildlife habitat program.

State Bounty Set On Predators In Oklahoma
Beginning July 1 the Oklahoma state game and fish department will pay bounty of 2.50 each on adult wolves coyotes and bobcats killed in Oklahoma and 1 each on pups or kittens. The payments become mandatory under House Bill 681 signed June 7. Fox may be declared a predator later. currently fox remains protected as a furbearing game animal. Claims must show animals were killed in Oklahoma between July 1 1955 and June 30 1957 and be recent at filing.

Bees Help Threlkelds Keep Ada Pickle Plant Busy
The Threlkeld brothers Emory and Creston run a pickle factory near Ada since 1945 and now operate 20 Italian bee hives from Georgia to pollinate cucumbers on 70 acres. Emory learns bee keeping, reporting no trouble as bees settle into new hives and begin building comb.

Latta rejects lunch room bond as elections set
Latta school district votes 41 to 34 against a $35 000 lunch room bond. Voters will decide on June 28 in the high school building a $62 000 bond for repairs and new construction and a $43 000 bond for a three unit classroom building and auditorium. Superintendent J J Potter cites local opposition to the lunch room project.

Wheat Growers Vote On Quota Set For June 25
Wheat growers will vote June 25 on whether to operate a marketing quota for the 1956 crop. Pontotoc County ASC chair W. W. Gibson said polling places will be set in convenient locations and growers will be notified where to vote. Farm allotments base on a national 55 million acre quota along with a minimum $1.81 per bushel price support in commercial states if quotas are approved.
