Old Age Aid Linked to Building Bonds

Oklahoma City June 13 Old age assistance payments were linked to a $46 million building bond issue promoted by Granville Scanland and Orn J Fox. Fox pledged to defeat the bond if pension rolls were reduced while promising 100 votes from old folks and relatives. Welfare Director W Stokes said the department must curtail aid for those who can be supported by relatives to stay within budget. Fox, under legislative investigation, denied opposing the bond but said it is past his power to fight the administration if it removes old folks from aid lists. A legislative committee report on Fox’s welfare activities was to be given to Oklahoma County.
