A Temperance message to Ada women calls for moral resolve in town affairs. It urges ladies to influence fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons to remove temptations, join the movement, and press for a clean town through persuasive, steady action. It ends with a hope for lively domestic effort until husbands align.
A. J. Ryan killed Jim Jones in a gunfight fourteen miles north of town last Saturday after a long standing grudge. Ryan fired five shots, killing Jones instantly, then surrendered at the Oklahoma corner and was taken to Ardmore jail awaiting trial before Judge Talbott with no bail.
W W Sledge arrived in Ada from Cresson Texas to head a new lumber yard to be built by Cicero Smith. Smith and Sledge bought a half block from Otis Weaver and John Rinard on Main and Rennie Ave. Sledge ordered 26 cars of lumber and his family plans to arrive Friday.
The Ross Union reports over 200 women signed a petition urging fathers brothers and sons to uphold law on whiskey selling Sabbath desecration and gambling. About the same number of men signaled willingness to support these aims. The writer extols women’s strength and calls for moral focus over fashion.
The Ada Camp Woodmen of the World joined visiting woodmen from nearby towns for a 2:30 Sunday service at the local Lodge Hall. About 200 attended the cemetery decoration for Sor J P Ritch, with eloquent speeches by Sovereigns J W Bolen and John P Crawford. Refreshments followed as ceremonies concluded.
Ada lodge No. 95 elected J. J. Burton as Worshipful Master C. A. Powers reelected Senior Warden C. C. Hargis Junior Warden Frank Jones reelected Treasurer and W. D. Lowden reelected Secretary The officers will be publicly installed on June 24.
Eastern Star officers of Lodges No 78 hold public installation on June 24 1908 featuring a program with quartet, duets, recitations, songs and addresses by Dr. Brents and Frank Jones. The event includes the history of the Eastern Star Chapter and installation of officers.
A letter from J. T. Howard reports he will return in a few days and asks Ada residents to await his arrival.

The Odd Fellows at a regular meeting last Thursday elected J. B. McDonald Noble Grand J. F. Jackson Vice Grand J. F. McKeel Secretary and J. N. Smith Treasurer for the ensuing year.
Mr. Hubbard in Muskogee I T writes to editors thanking them for timely help in raising the World’s Fair fund to $50,000 for an Indian Territory Building and exhibit at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. He expresses gratitude for the newspapers’ courtesies and city citizens’ contributions.
W D Swofford came back from Quitman Arkansas last Sunday after responding to a message that his sister was not expected to live. He found she was convalescing when he arrived.
