Floods Raise Worries Across Oklahoma and Panhandle
Moderate to heavy rains blessed Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle for the week ending June 7. Weather officials report drouth breaking but warn continued heavy rain could trigger floods northward or from the South Canadian river. Cimarron and Arkansas rivers in Oklahoma show no danger while Wichita reports serious flood conditions and a 6 to 10 foot rise on the Arkansas. In Amarillo a 14 foot rise on the South Canadian river near New Mexico worsens rail washouts and disrupts traffic across the Panhandle.
