Blood-Stained Stick Studied in Kidnapping Case
In Princeton on June 1, federal officers questioned an unemployed carpenter about the kidnapping of tow-headed Jimmie Cash as investigators studied a blood-stained stick and scraps of paper. Ransom notes totaling about 1500 bank notes for $10,000 were examined after the boy’s father delivered them yesterday. Deputies found the ransom box at a road intersection where Cash signaled with blinking lights. A crude map on a brown paper was found near the box. The questioned man was M. F. Braxton, arrested near the Cash home, with his wife noting he was at the filling station Saturday night. A fisherman was sought at Cape Sable. Volunteers and many groups joined the search as authorities moved to locate the boy. The case drew a large crowd as stations and farms were combed.
