The nine mill ad ditional levy for Ada schools passed with 605 voting in favor and 21 against in Tuesday’s special election. Voter turnout was heavier than usual with a final hour rush, more than twice the 1926 totals, and the pro and con percentages remained nearly identical.
H Clay Stephens former county commissioners chairman departs for McAlester to start a two year sentence for false claims and forgery in the second degree. He pleaded guilty to five counts. six counts remain with bondsmen liable until incarceration. He relinquished a pending six year term and said he seeks mercy of the court.
Fire destroyed the roof of the old unit at the Byng Oklahoma Gas and Electric plant late Saturday. Ada firefighters aided in halting spread as the roof was being removed for a new level. W B Jones former Ada city finance commissioner found guilty of embezzlement for 1919 to 1921 and sentenced to three years in the state penitentary with a $20000 fine. He was allowed to file for a new trial by Wednesday and remains free on bond. The jury earlier determined guilt after two hours of deliberation on sentence and fine.
A Thursday visit to the Waffle No. 2 well in section 20-5-8 northwest of Allen by Louisiana Oil and Refining Corp reports a flowing well near 300 barrels with gas present and 34 degree gravity crude. Nine new locations were announced and neighboring wells Ramsey Homaokla are drilling, indicating active development in the area.

F. Levins, with attackers using battering rams and improvised positions across a nearby church.
Captain Charles Lindbergh will fly to Paris in a British plane Thursday and stay with Ambassador Herrick until Saturday before sailing home on the destroyer Breck from Harve. The American embassy plans no engagements to allow him a glimpse of ordinary Paris.
