Ten Killed in Premature Dynamite Blast Near Baltimore
A premature explosion of 459 pounds of dynamite in a water tunnel near the Baltimore pumping station killed ten men of an eighteen worker crew. Seven died instantly, three of the survivors later perished in hospital. four escaped injury. The blast occurred around seven, all the dead were Baltimore negroes, whites survived. The crew worked midnight to 8 am to blast rock for the gay crew to remove. Identification was difficult due to mangled bodies. the explosion was blamed on an accident while tamping the charge.

PWA Reports Decrease in Loans Asked
Washington July 20 Public Works administration officials noted a sharp decrease in demand for federal loans to supplement PWA grants.
