Wayne Truitt 4-H Winner Adds Acreage and Pride
Wayne Truitt, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fat Truitt of Jesse, parlayed a 4-H feeding contest victory into a farming career. He owns four registered Duroc Jerseys, 14 beef cattle, a D Slash T brand, and 430 acres. He built a thriving operation despite low rainfall, raises oats and sorghums, and supports his father who works rodeo. He has consistently placed in 4-H contests, co-created an electric brooder for turkeys, and earned a second with a palomino named Yellowjacket. Continued on Page 2.

A poorly recovering tom cat shot for attacking chickens alerted a Bus Morrison home to an oil stove blaze Sunday afternoon. The cat died that night after infection and a 106 degree fever worsened his condition while helpers fought the fire and later switched to propane.
