Elections held nationwide under Huerta control show Gen. Huerta favored for president and Gen. Blanquet for vice president. Huerta reportedly wins a near unanimous confidence vote. deputies and senators largely re elected. Voter turnout was very light in Mexico City and surrounding areas.
Drill at MacThwaite well No 2 struck oil sand at about 950 feet around 4 PM Tuesday. Rumors on the yield swirl but amount remains uncertain as work continues to gauge thickness. News representative witnessed noticeable oil bailing this morning. The depth is about 100 feet shallower than Ada Oil and Gas Co. earlier well, heightening optimism.
The group supported by AAC MEN CE WILSON urged a trade commission with authority to define monopolies and to determine law violations. They pressed for explicit terms clarifying how businesses should operate under the law.
Oklahoma City July 6 The State Board of Affairs awarded W E Hornaday of Sulphur the contract to print over 500 000 perforated ballot sheets for the August primary. Hornaday promised delivery by July 19 and was arranging a bond. The bid total for all parties was 3 434 07 against the next lowest at 6 494 40. The board says low bidders can perform reliably with proper bonds.

The barn of Char ley Gindstaff near Center burned this morning at about 2 o clock. A recently used binder, a two seated hack, harness, and feed were lost. Live stock escaped but a Jersey cow and horses were endangered. Loss estimated at 600 to 700 dollars with 1590 dollars of insurance.
Gen Sam H Hargis names Helen Webb sponsor of the Chickasaw brigade at the Davis reunion. Lurline Chisler and Maude South named maids of honor. The reunion runs July 21 to 23.
Dallas police report a man identified as M. Cain was found murdered at the Union Depot hotel with his throat slit and head nearly severed. Cain’s residence is unknown and his roommate fled the scene by climbing over the roof.
Prof. T. F. Pierce reports his father died July 1 in Columbus at age 85. He left nine sons and four daughters, eleven living and at the funeral. He had lived in the community 55 years, 45 in the home of his death. A steady Christian, he had long belonged to Mt. Zion Methodist Church since 1866.
Arden L. Bullock declares a circulating claim that he is Catholic is a deliberate lie. He states he is a Mason and an Odd Fellow and warns that more falsehoods may follow as the political contest begins.
Joseph Grinwood, 66, fought an intruder in his Chicago home as his wife restrained the man. The burglar stabbed Grinwood with an ice pick multiple times before Grinwood fatally struck with a club.
A government thermometer observed by Mrs. R. F. King showed 100 degrees on Monday, matching readings on June 29 and July 1. June rainfall measured 29.100 inches.
In Durant Oklahoma territory near Colbert 17 year old Mrs Bonnie Chappel shot Albert Norris 25 injuring him fatally? He survived but prognosis poor. She claims Norris insulted her while her husband was away. Norris says she shot him to prevent his departure. Chappel arrested and jailed in Bryan county.
E. C. Wilson the librarian reports 1 200 new books ordered for the normal school library. The addition will greatly enhance facilities and create a fine working library for students.
In Orenday Mexico General Obregon's Constitutionalist troops fought for 36 hours and nearly destroyed 5000 Federals attempting a Guadalajara sortie. The retreat Tuesday left behind ten troop trains artillery and munitions. Hundreds were captured and casualties were heavy on both sides.
Wheeling July 1 West Virginia began enforcing the Yost act at midnight marking a strict prohibition era. The transition was orderly with some dealers leaving the state while others switched trades. Reports indicate several deaths attributed to intoxicants in the southern region.

On a July 2 in La Grange Oregon a passenger train was robbed by three highwaymen. Deputy Sheriff McDuffee was slightly wounded and killed the nearest robber after being awakened. The robbers locked trainmen in the baggage car and fled on horseback into the mountains. Loot amount unknown.
