On the eve of the Democratic National Convention in St Louis the outlook favors Judge Alton B Parker of New York as the nominee of conservative forces. Radicals trail as a distant second while the minority groups from 1896 and 1900 appear to control the ticket running mate and platform decisions.
Marshal Dick Couch captured Henry Stewart and Willie Walkup, colored, late Wednesday on a murder charge. Stewart claims Jim Gaines sought to alienate his wife, Mary Stewart, and that Walkup was not at the scene in Weewoka eight miles east of Holdenville at midnight July 4.
The Rockwall Browns series final match proved tight from start to finish. King started a late rally with a two RBI single in the ninth inning giving Rockwall a 3 0 lead before Browns tied and won 4 3 in the tenth. Watson Kimble Vernon and Lowe starred in defense while Huff brothers and Slack Leslie delivered top battery work.
L. D. and E. S. Ratliff from Gainesville Texas have formed a law practice in Ada Oklahoma and moved into the Conn Little building above Little Bros. store. The Valley View News notes Ratliffs left for Ada to establish themselves in legal work with Ed Ratliff and wishes them success in their new home.
For days residents heard blasting as compress workers sink a test well in the northeast part of town. Initial boring reached fifty five feet with a large twelve foot diameter weir, water abundant, current depth thirty five feet.
W D Black remains jailed at Atoka on a murder charge for the June 14 killing of J W Ausbrook near Wapapucka after bail was denied.
St Louis July 6 The Pennsylvania delegation backs Parker reshaping the Democratic race. Attendees at hotels discuss contracts for a permanent organization as rival aspirants endure heat and long circulars. July 7 Williams opens the convention with a long speech outlining campaign grounds for the Democrats.
The Browns fall to South McAlester 9 to 4 in a nine inning game. Nicholson takes the loss after McGinnis was removed in the fourth. Patton, Whittenberg and Cope landers noted for base stealing and three base hit.

She carries letters proving identity and was sent to meet a brother likely unaware of her aid.
In Chickasha on July 5 physicians gathered for the first Chickasha Medical Association meeting to qualify before the board. Reports indicate several pathologists have left the practice, and the board retains exclusive power to judge qualifications.
Walter Bandy and wife visited Ada on Wednesday. A.C. Smith studying medicine under Dr. Davenport has moved to Oakman. Dr. Davenport went to Ardmore on the 4th to appear before the medical board. Maggie Pasil returns home to Mountain View from Oakman. J. R. Milton left for Texas to work with a threshing machine. The Middleton boy, age twelve, is convalescent. Free Will Baptist church organized near Mount Olive by G W Ishan J O Damian and A Berryman. R Flatt buys wife a new organ. J W Ragland, formerly of Oakman now of Stonewall, visited. Large crowd from the woods attended the Ada picnic on the 4th. Will Ferguson subscribes to the News.
