Four charged in mountainside slaying of Omer McNew
In Idabel Oklahoma four people were bound over to district court after a preliminary hearing for the slaying of Omer McNew a Battiest farmer. The group includes the widow of the slain man her 16 year old daughter Inez and Fred Bowers and Jack Portlock aged 30 and 25. Portlock testified that he and Inez were sweethearts and had been with the McNews since September after meeting at Pauls Valley. McNew’s body was found beneath a brush pile January 18.
