Deep Wells Deliver Water From Arbuckle

Ada develops high capacity water from Arbuckle limestone with two deep wells near Byrd's Mill Spring and Hickory Roy Turner reports sinking two wells for irrigation. The Dearman Ranch well at 1036 feet yielded 2705 gpm and 3 895 000 gallons daily while Norris Ranch well at 900 feet produced 2745 gpm and 3 936 960 gallons daily. Together they can deliver nearly 8 000 000 gallons per day across Ada county.

Calf Program Outlined for Rural Youth

Pontotoc County farmers and Dr. R. E. Cowling sponsor a calf program for rural youths. Two youths will receive registered Holstein heifers and must return a normal healthy heifer calf at the same age and weight. Applications are taken by the Farmer's Union and instructors in Roff Latta Allen Vanoss, with selection on points.

Hunters Rally Behind Wofford in Arson Case Pledge Support

Atoka and Coal County Fox and Wolf Association members gathered to defend Earl Wofford of Allen accused of second degree arson. The group pledged moral and cash support, organized defense funds and carloads of witnesses, with 66 attendees and a rallying cry against “the big man swallowing up the little.” The hearing was postponed to February 5, and a spring hunt is planned at Old Boggy Depot State Park.
