Some Democrats doubt hearings will be held on President Truman's request for another five billion dollars in taxes. The Defense Production Act extension appears likely but may be limited to one year and weaker than proposed.
New Orleans backer Earl Long protege Carlos Spaht and Independent Appeals Judge Robert Kennon led the Louisiana Democratic primary, advancing to a February 19 runoff with Spaht 134,416 votes and Kennon 131,784 after 1,761 of 2,122 precincts reported. Hale Boggs finished third, conceding the race, as several other candidates trailed with smaller totals.
100 year old CORPEY vinun, was un-Ferd Anand Kittler, died here yesterday from burns suffered Sunday when his bedclothes caught fire from a pipe he was smoking. He formerly worked for an Arkansas City milling company.

Bert Isaac Cherry paid a $10 fine after appearing before Perseus Armstrong peace justice to answer charges of following too closely. Cherry was stopped Friday two miles north of Ada on SH 99 by highway trooper H D Van Arsdell.

The quads, consisting of three boys and a girl, remain in a Nashville hospital in incubators. the public is barred from visiting.
Churchill told a joint Senate House session that Britain will play a part in defending Europe and respond firmly to Communist aggression in the Far East. He urged deterrents and warned the US not to outlaw atomic bombs yet, stressing a well armed international force as the best safeguard against a third world war.
The Democratic Central Committee for Pontoter county will meet in the district courtroom Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock to elect officers. The five day storm isolated towns and stranded the City of San Francisco with 228 aboard, while Portola faced isolation and a gas explosion killed a woman. In MUNSAN Korea the Communists alleged an Al- Sed bomb dropped near Kaesong as U N investigators viewed a deep hillside crater eight feet by twenty five feet. Six Koreans heard planes before the device fell. U N and Communist investigators remained cordial while reports indicated no damage.
United Nations audience heard Andrei Vishinsky declare there is no hope for a successful armistice conclusion in Korea. He lambasted U S policy, attacked Dean Acheson, and called Gen. Van Fleet a cannibal while the political committee rejected the Soviet peace plan and sent Vishinsky’s atom proposal to the disarmament commission.
A snowbound City of San Francisco streamliner arrives in Oakland after four days stranded in the Sierra. The 254 passengers and 32 crew on the relief run include 114 Pullman and 168 coach travelers. Spectators greet them as they disembark, with many heading to San Francisco after baths, meals, and rest.

Norman M. Greenwood was released on a $1,000 bond after a Wednesday arraignment before Justice C. W. Floyd on charges of child abandonment. He is accused of deserting four children Norman Jean, Pearl Louise, Glean Alice, and Jack Ronnie. Mrs Ira Greenwood signed the complaint.
Lawton men Ralph Hudson and Case Thomas Jr were charged with conspiracy to violate internal revenue laws in a liquor imparting roundup. They were released on bonds totaling 2000 after arraignment before U S Commissioner John W Murrell in Chickasha. Since October federal and county officers have arrested 100 persons on such charges in Grady McClain and Comanche counties.

Roller of Kay County lost appeal in a DUI case with a four month sentence.
