Ice on Bridge Halts Traffic Near Ada
Slippery conditions on the Big Sandy Creek bridge west of Ada caused two nearly identical accidents within 30 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. A car and a truck collided, then a second collision occurred at the opposite end of the bridge. Several vehicles ended up crossways or overturned on the bridge. Continued on Page 2.

Two Francis men suffered foot injuries this week while at work. L. A. Van Horn, an oil station employee in Francis, was hospitalized at Valley View for work related injuries. Robert Karris sustained a foot injury on the farm after a pitchfork punctured his foot while feeding stock.

Teachers Learn to Operate Audiometer for Hearing Tests
County teachers from eleven schools attended a January 13 workshop at Willard school to learn audiometer operation for screening grade pupils. Field audiologist Richard Krug and health educators Milton Johnson and Jack Pearson demonstrated the device, with testing to be completed by February 4. Since 1951 the program has covered 12 Oklahoma counties, testing 40 700 children and finding 1 079 with hearing losses.

Langley Home Wins Second in District Improvement Contest
Mr and Mrs Lee Langley earned second place in the district district improvement contest run through county agents offices. Their ranch type home on the Rollow farm six miles southeast of Ada impressed judges for its October 1952 to October 1953 improvements and won $75 in merchandise certificates.
